Reno Recovery Collaborative

Every day 140 Americans are lost to opioid overdose. This is not just from illegal drugs. Many of these deaths are caused by prescription drugs. Kansas and Reno county are not immune. In 2018, we had 16 overdose deaths leading to the reorganizing, reconvening, and renaming of the Reno County Drug Impact Task Force to Reno Recovery Collaborative (RRC).

The RRC is comprised of a variety of stakeholders and concerned citizens that are committed to working on the issues facing our community. In 2019 the then DIT wrote a strategic action plan that the group is currently following and has led to receiving two grants: Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) and Rural Response to the Opioid Epidemic grant helping further our scope of work in these issues we face.

With the help of RRC, Health Department, and grants, we have been able to present substance misuse information to HR directors, businesses, schools, and others in the community. To further our progress on substance misuse information and anti-stigma campaigns we would love a chance to talk with your group.

In 2022, the Reno Recovery Portal (www.renorecoveryks.com) was launched including resources and information for friends, family, and individuals affected by substance use. The Reno Recovery Portal is a centralized location that bridges the gap between community organizations, treatment providers, and citizens. The portal includes essential crisis, treatment and community resources, self-assessment tools, education, and prevention tools.
