National Public Health Week - New Tools and Innovations

We are celebrating National Public Health Week, April 1-7, 2024, with this year's theme of "Protecting, Connecting and Thriving: We Are All Public Health." Today we are focusing on New Tools and InnovationsPublic health is all about preventing disease, diagnosing, health conditions, and encouraging health and well-being. However, achieving these goals wouldn’t be possible without the help of new tools and innovations in public health. Wearable fitness bands to virtual doctors appointments, new technology has changed the way individuals and communities receive and respond to health information. Other tools, like warning systems for natural disasters, or the use of software apps, can help individuals stay connected and protected during emergencies. The world is filled with conflicting information about vaccines, leaving many people, wondering what to believe. Voices for Vaccines has sorted through all of the good information, the myths and the misinformation to bring you credible science based vaccine information you can trust advancements in public health can help us in the fight towards equity, so all people and populations can thrive.

Who can make a difference with new tools and innovations? You. Adults need 150 minutes a week of moderate intensity activity. Physical activity can help improve mental health, reduce the risk of illnesses, such as heart disease and Type 2 diabetes and manage chronic health conditions like arthritis. Wearable health devices, such a smart watches, or health apps at track physical activity to monitor how much activity you are getting every day.  Download the Voices for Vaccines app, it is currently available for both Android and iOS devices. This app will help you debunk vaccine disinformation, start a conversation with a concern, friend, and advocate for public health to the people who mean the most to you: your friends and family.
