2023 Employee of the Year
Willette Miller
Willette has been a valued staff member, coworker, and friend for 2nd shift that continues to grow. Willette always has a positive attitude when she arrives to work, and it radiates around, not only in Detention, but in our Youth Shelter as well. Willette maintains tremendous rapport with the youth, which is one of the many reasons she was nominated for this award.
Willette's co-workers enjoy working with her, in part because of her contagious, positive attitude, and friendly demeanor. She does not shy away from any shift duties, no matter how challenging they may be. Her kindness for others is shown over and over, whether it is discussing delicate topics with the youth, or leading an empathetic ear to youth who need to talk. During some of the most chaotic times of the day, Willette remains calm and has great group control.
Willette has taken over the Choices Program for Detention on Thursday afternoons and is making it her own. She has found new ways to keep the youth engaged with the topic and yet be educational in the process. Willette continues to come up with new topics for the youth and is currently in the process of sharing a video with the youth that is twofold. Not only is it inspirational for the youth, but staff are able to utilize the material for yearly mandatory training.
Willette, you are a great asset, not only to our facility, but also to our community. We are very fortunate to have you as an employee at Reno County Youth Services.
